Research Fellowships
Each year the College proposes to elect up to four Fellows by Examination (elsewhere known as Junior Research Fellows). Each Fellowship is tenable for three years. The Fellow is a member of the Governing Body of the College for the first two years and is entitled to free lunches and dinners in College and a research allowance. Fellows by Examination are expected to live in the Oxford area, and his/her research base must be in Oxford

Visiting Fellowships
Each year the College elects a Visiting Fellow or Fellows for periods of one year or shorter during an academic year. In addition, a Robert S. Campbell Visiting Fellow may be elected for research in law, especially commercial or competition law. A Visiting Fellowship is intended to offer an established scholar, either from abroad or from the United Kingdom, an opportunity to pursue his or her own study and research as a member of the College.

SUB-DEAN
Closing date: Friday 23rd May 2025 (noon)
Magdalen College wishes to appoint two Sub-Deans for the academic year commencing 1 September 2025. These posts are intended for postgraduate students (i.e. normally students in the second or third year of their graduate programme) or junior postdoctoral researchers. The primary role of the Sub-Deans will be to act as a decanal presence in College, particularly in evenings and at weekends in term-time, and occasionally for longer periods out of term. They will be a first point of call for all disciplinary and welfare matters that require an immediate response. The successful candidates will be required to reside in College, free of charge, will receive 7 meals per week (lunch or dinner) for the duration of this contract either through the Buttery in Hall or in the SCR, and an annual stipend (of £6,000) which includes entertainment expenses. Applicants are encouraged from across the University and must be graduates. Please see the Further Particulars below for more details.
